The three-day visit included strategic planning sessions, faculty exchanges, and discussions on joint research initiatives focused on addressing Caribbean health challenges. Both institutions committed to expanding student exchange opportunities and developing shared curriculum resources.

“This partnership represents the future of medical education in our region,” said Dr. Sarah Richardson, Dean of Hamilton University School of Medicine. “By combining our strengths, we can better prepare the next generation of physicians to address the unique healthcare needs of Caribbean communities.”

Hamilton University Launches New Public Health Research Initiative

Hamilton University School of Medicine has secured $1.2 million in funding to establish the Caribbean Health Outcomes Research Program (CHORP), focusing on non-communicable diseases affecting regional populations.

The initiative will bring together researchers, public health officials, and community stakeholders to study diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease patterns unique to Caribbean populations. The program aims to develop culturally appropriate interventions and prevention strategies.

“This research will directly impact health outcomes in our communities,” said Dr. Elena Fernandez, Director of Research and Innovation. “By understanding the specific factors affecting Caribbean populations, we can develop more effective approaches to prevention and treatment.”

Medical Students Lead Community Health Screening Program

February 28, 2025

Hamilton University medical students organized a comprehensive health screening event serving over 200 residents in underserved communities across Providenciales. The student-led initiative provided blood pressure checks, diabetes screenings, and preventive health education.

Second-year medical student Maria Gonzalez, who coordinated the event, noted: “This experience allowed us to apply our clinical skills while making a real difference in our community. The gratitude we received from residents reinforced why we chose medicine as our calling.”

Dr. James Wilson Publishes Groundbreaking Research on Tropical Disease Management

Hamilton University professor Dr. James Wilson’s research on innovative approaches to managing dengue fever was published in the prestigious Journal of Tropical Medicine this month. Hamilton Medical Students Present Research at International Conference

Four Hamilton University medical students were selected to present their research at the International Conference on Medical Education in Barcelona, Spain. Their work on innovative teaching methodologies in anatomy education received significant attention from medical educators worldwide.

“The opportunity to share our research on the global stage was incredible,” said fourth-year student David Chen. “The feedback we received will help us refine our approach and potentially influence medical education beyond Hamilton.”
