Caribbean-Born Pediatric Neurologist | Global Epilepsy Leader | Academic Innovator
Dr. Dave F. Clarke is an internationally respected pediatric neurologist and epileptologist, born and educated in the Caribbean. A proud graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI), he has dedicated his career to transforming pediatric epilepsy care both regionally and globally. As President of the Epilepsy Society of the Caribbean and a Board Member of the North American Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), Dr. Clarke leads major initiatives to expand clinical capacity, strengthen professional education, and support underserved communities across the Caribbean. Since 2008, he has served as an ILAE Visiting Professor, training physicians and health teams throughout Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and other island nations.
In North America, Dr. Clarke serves as Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas, where he has advanced innovations in pediatric epilepsy surgery, neurophysiology, functional imaging, and multidisciplinary care. Under his leadership, the program has developed advanced epilepsy monitoring, expanded research collaborations, and contributed to numerous scientific publications and clinical trials. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, mentoring the next generation of neurologists and epilepsy specialists.
Dr. Clarke previously held key leadership roles at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston, where he directed epilepsy programs, led clinical research, and supported groundbreaking work in pediatric neuroimaging and epilepsy surgery.
His combined Caribbean heritage, global influence, and North American academic accomplishments make Dr. Clarke an exceptional and impactful member of the Hamilton University Advisory Group.
